Snakes and Slow worms

Frequently asked questions about Slow worms:

How do I tell the difference between a Slow Worm and a snake?

Slow Worms differ from snakes by having a more cylindrical body and a bullet-shaped head, a moveable eyelid allowing them to blink and a notch rather than a fork in their tongue.  Like all UK lizards they can also detach their tails if attacked.
