Snakes and Slow worms Frequently asked questions about snakes:
Grass Snakes and amphibians enjoy similar habitats - varying heights of vegetation, log or stone piles, compost heaps - grass snakes actually primarily feed on amphibians so if you have pond that is likely to attract them locally. Like all reptiles snakes need places to bask, forage and hibernate. If you have suitable habitats and the garden is accessible they will probably visit at some point, though grass snakes do move around a lot and you might not see them!
