Spawn and tadpoles Frequently asked questions about frog/toad spawn and tadpoles:
Where can I get spawn to put in my pond? We do not recommend moving amphibians or their spawn around because of the threat of unwittingly transferring various diseases and invasive plants. Some evidence suggests that the adult amphibians may attempt to migrate back anyway. A good quality pond that is accessible should colonise naturally providing there are animals in the area in the first place. Froglife's Frogwatch 2006 study found two thirds of garden ponds had naturally colonised populations of Common Frogs within two years. If you know there are amphibians around but have not seen them in your garden there may be a reason for this.
