Spawn and tadpoles

Frequently asked questions about frog/toad spawn and tadpoles:

How do I tell the difference between frog and toad spawn/tadpoles?

Frog spawn is laid in clumps in shallower water while toad spawn is laid in strings, usually wrapped around plants in deeper water.  Newt eggs are completely different, they are laid individually on submerged plant leaves.  Frog tadpoles are brown whereas toad tadpoles are jet black.
