Hampton Nature Reserve, Peterborough

Froglife is proud to manage Hampton Nature Reserve, a three hundred acre (122 hectare) site, home to Europe's largest Great Crested Newt population.

Brownfield sites for amphibians and reptiles

Brownfield sites, like former brick pits, are often excellent habitat for amphibians, reptiles and many species of invertebrate. The protection and monitoring of these sites is therefore important to prevent local species from being affected by development or a lack of suitable management.

Working closely with landowners O&H Hampton Ltd and the government agency Natural England, Froglife has helped this site develop into a successful case-study of how multi-discipline partners can work together in the conservation of amphibians, reptiles and their habitats.
