Wildlife Ambassadors

This new training scheme is getting those who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) involved in reptile and amphibian conservation.

Wildlife Ambassadors is an exciting new project funded by Natural England as part of its Access to Nature programme (part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces programme).

This ground-breaking project will help create networks of ‘ambassadors’ for amphibians and reptiles, focusing particularly on audiences that are new to wildlife conservation. These ambassadors will create training programmes for other volunteers, helping them start new careers, or amateur interest, in wildlife conservation.

The project will work closely with a number of celebrities, who will themselves undergo wildlife and conservation training and then become mentors to the project participants. The aim of the project will be to train a range of people to speak up for wildlife, encouraging them to make conservation-friendly choices in their lives and careers.

The project launched in July 2010; read more about the project's aims.
