Chytridiomycosis
In the UK
common
toads are most at risk, as well as
natterjack toads and all three
newt
species.
Common frogs appear to be at relatively low risk - if you are
finding lots of dead adult frogs please see the information
about ranavirus.
Chytrid fungus can probably infect any amphibian but each is
thought to have differing levels of susceptibility. It appears
to affect species which live around streams and at high
elevations but there are exceptions: common toads are not
specifically associated with either of these habitats but this
species has suffered in isolated areas of mainland Europe.
