Disease

Chytridiomycosis

What should I do if I think my amphibians are infected?

It is still quite unlikely that you will encounter an outbreak of chytrid but if you have read through all the information (on chytrid and ranavirus) and believe that the animals are infected with chytrid then please get in touch as soon as possible.

Do not attempt to help apparently healthy amphibians by moving them to another pond as this could spread the disease.

You may have read about potential treatments for this disease but these are still being researched and there is nothing currently available to buy. You should not treat the pond (or amphibians) with anti-fungal products which are available for fish.
