There are two diseases that pose a
serious threat to our native amphibians.
This disease is most common during the summer when the virus is
activated by warm temperatures. It's characterised by finding
lots of dead frogs within a short space of time, which were
usually thin and/or lethargic before death.

Usually referred to as 'chytrid', this fungal infection has
contributed to the extinction of amphibian populations in other
parts of the world. Incidences of chytrid in the UK have been
isolated and although it is a cause for concern it does not
currently pose as much of a threat as ranavirus.
