London

Memory Benches

There’s another side to the London Dragon Finder project that is about sitting back and enjoying the nature around us. With so much going on in the capital city, it’s important to step out of the busy city and unwind in the green space around us! It’s a crazy thought that among all the skyscrapers there are little green havens crammed full of wildlife! There’s a lot of life going on around our lives, from dragonflies darting around lakes to seals swimming in the Thames.

There is a lot of amphibian and reptile activity in London, 20 minutes from parliament you can find common lizards basking in the sun or right next to The O2 there’s a healthy population of smooth newts! Don’t forget that you can record what you find with our Dragon Finder App.
Wildife Memory Collage

The London Dragon Finder team want everyone to enjoy the nature around them, and have installed three beautiful hand-carved benches at three sites across London. All three benches are positioned next to some of our habitat work, and are kindly maintained by local volunteers! So be prepared to hear frogs croaking, or possibly see newts coming up for air in one of the ponds! The benches can be found at Dacres Wood, Waterworks Nature Reserve and South Norwood Country Park.

Visit a bench and reminisce old memories, or even better make new ones!
