Kingston Vale Allotments

Saturday June 11th we delivered a ‘Wildlife Workshop’ to nine plot holders at Kingston Vale Allotments in the London borough of Kingston Upon Thames. We were very fortunate with the weather, as the first part of the workshop took place inside their community area, while outside was torrential rain. As we started the second part, a tour around the allotment site, the rain stopped and the sun came out!

The site has around eighty plots and while there are currently no ponds on site there are lots of great wildlife habitats from log piles to wild areas. The chairman and his committee are particularly enthusiastic and keen to become even more wildlife friendly, having created a wildlife officer role on their committee. They also plan to create a pond or two and undertake a bio blitz survey!
