Froglife’s Green Pathways scheme is running for the second time
after generous support from BBC Children in Need. It was
launched in January 2012 to run for three years.
The aim is to work with young people who are experiencing
difficulty in their life, for a wide variety of reasons, and
engage them in outdoor practical work that will benefit both
wildlife and people in their local community. Green Pathways
introduces young people to conservation and increases their
confidence and their enjoyment of the outdoors whilst allowing
them to absorb knowledge of the natural environment in the
natural environment. It also signposts them to further support
and opportunities in line with their developing interests.
Young people will leave the project having achieved something
positive, worked as a team and learned new skills.
In the previous project (2008-11), Froglife engaged with nearly
2000 young people within the Peterborough area, and involved 24
partner schools and community groups. Froglife is looking to
bring Green Pathways to other urban areas including Glasgow and
London.
