Froglife’s
Green Pathways Scheme will provide opportunities to young people referred to
Froglife by the Peterborough Youth Offending Service and other agencies to
continue their development into young conservationists. Launched
in June 2008 and running for three years, this unique conservation project – funded by
BBC Children in Need – is among the first of its kind in The
scheme will work to deliver informal conservation coaching and opportunities
to gain qualifications through targeted ‘on the job’ training and involvement in the Youth Achievement Awards Scheme. For young people who are
developing interests in a wide range of conservation techniques including
physical habitat management and wildlife surveying, this scheme could lead
to exciting employment opportunities within the conservation field. The
scheme aims to enrol young people in the Youth Achievement Award Scheme
managed by UK Youth giving young people the opportunities to plan and lead
their own projects and take ownership of setting their own goals and actions
to achieve these; an invaluable skill. Each young person will have an
individually tailored portfolio to record all of their achievements
throughout the project. Trained volunteers from ‘Better Together’ will
also provide further support during each session. What
will the project do? Want to hear what's going on with the Green Pathways Project? Sign up for further details of events and opportunities in the Peterborough area as the project progresses. Contact
