Froglife
works to protect amphibians and reptiles in a number of
different ways.
We have a number of projects to create and improve the areas
that our species depend on. We're working on the ground in
Peterborough, London and Glasgow, and at a strategic level to
ensure these habitats are protected.

Campaigning for toad-friendly
Amphibian populations, particularly toads, can be devastated by
having to cross roads when they make their way back to ponds to
breed in spring. Through our Toads on Roads campaign, volunteers
are saving as many as 40,000 toads a year by physically helping them across
busy roads. We have all sorts of resources and materials for
Toad Patrollers, including how to manage Patrols and collect
important data.

There are a number of potentially disastrous diseases currently
affecting amphibians across the world, with one third of species
at risk of extinction. Working with the Institute of Zoology and
members of the public who have found diseased animals, we are
part of efforts to monitor and hopefully control these diseases
in the UK.

Froglife has a wide range of resources offering advice and
information to help different audiences learn more about
amphibians and reptiles. We are also developing a programme of
training, so do check back regularly to see what is available.

Communicating our enthusiasm for
amphibians and reptiles is a big passion for Froglife staff! Through a number of innovative and
inclusive education and learning projects, as well as
developing resources for schools and other groups to download,
we're encouraging new audiences to get involved in reptile and
amphibian conservation.
