Froglife’s project gathering opinions about reptiles, amphibians, other wildlife and supporting conservation charities continues in 2014. The Perception of Amphibians and Reptiles: The Scale of the Problem involves collecting thoughts through vox pops in different locations, visiting groups to run discussion sessions alongside an online survey. The project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
There is still time for you to take part and enter the prize draw to win over £50 worth of goodies from the Froglife shop. The survey will be open until the 12th of March. Find out more about the prizes here.
“It’s been a really interesting process for Froglife so far,” explains Sam Taylor who has been coordinating the project since last August. “We started with a literature review, and we’re in the data-gathering phase now to find out more about the animals that people feel an affinity with and the issues that concern different groups. So far through the survey the Hedgehog, Badger and Fox feature highly on the list of favourite UK animals, with frogs, toads and newts also getting a big mention.”
“Questions being asked through the survey and focus groups explore how people feel about supporting wildlife charities, with many telling us that they are experiencing financial difficulties so are limiting the charities they support,” adds Sam. “We are also getting some really useful feedback about the conservation sector and how Froglife as an organisation is perceived within it.”
Through the project, Froglife is aiming to reach as many people as possible, and we’d genuinely love to know what you think about wildlife, the animals you care about, and how you choose to support different causes.
It would be great if you could help us by taking the survey, and sharing it as widely as possible. We’ll be using the results to help improve our communications, so everyone taking part will have a real impact on how the organisation works in future.
