After holding our inaugural South-East Toad Summit online in February 2022 as a COVID-19 precaution, we were delighted to hold our second Summit in-person at Adastra Hall in Hassocks in January of this year. Both experienced toad patrollers and those interested in becoming involved with toad patrols from across the South-East attended, listening to informative talks on toads from guest speakers and sharing thoughts, advice and questions on toad patrolling with one another. We’ve compiled below a selection of the thoughts & advice shared by patrollers at the summit, which we hope provides an insight into toad patrolling for those new to the activity and a point of reference for existing patrollers. Thank you to all those that attended!
In February 2024, we held our final South-East Toad Summit at the Linklater Pavilion at Lewes Railway Land Nature Reserve. Speakers at the summit included Dr Inga Zeisset from the University of Brighton and Sussex Amphibian and Reptile Group, Jessie Bartholomew-Smythe from the Stone Street Toad Patrol in Kent and Paolo Oprandi from the Roundhill Toad Patrol in Brighton. We invite you to listen to presentations from the morning below:
