Hampton Nature Reserve Reptile Survey

September 21 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm

Join us for our fortnightly reptile survey at Hampton Nature Reserve (HNR) for your chance to see some of the wonderful reptiles and amphibians the area has to offer. HNR is home to adders, grass snakes, slow worms, common lizards, and smooth newts, alongside the largest population of great crested newts in Europe, making this a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

The presence of protected species on the site means the site is private and closed to the public, only accessible during volunteering days. As the site is private, please be aware that the terrain can be rather tricky in places and there is no on site toilet (the nearest being located at The Moorhen Pub). Due to the presence of adders on site, please wear good, solid footwear and be aware of where you are stepping.

Where to meet:

The grassy verge on Natures Way (PE7 8FQ), very close to the junction on to West Lake Avenue, you will be able to see staff cars parked on the verge.

What to bring:

Appropriate footwear with good grip (cleaned from mud to avoid contamination of the site)

Suitable clothing for the weather (make sure you’re not afraid to get your clothing mucky!)

Plenty to drink and snacks if you need them

To book a free place, please contact: clare.middleton@froglife.org

Thank you to National Lottery Players and O&H for making the project possible.
