Renfrewshire Living Water is funded by the Green Infrastructure Community Engagement Fund, operating in 2018 / 2019. Working across three sites in Renfrewshire, near the city of Paisley to improve and enhance habitat for amphibians and reptiles whilst also having a strong community focus.
The project has completed large-scale works to create and restore ponds in 2018 and 2019 has seen many community events taking place on these sites to teach local people new skills / techniques whilst making sites more wildlife-friendly.
From March 2019 the three sites have played host to 9 volunteer sessions – restoring a pond, planting ponds, litter picking, seeding areas with native species and creating hibernacula. 6 training events have taken place teaching skills on amphibian / reptile survey methods and amphibian habitat management. Finally, 3 events have been held in Renfrewshire offering local people advice on ponds with our pond doctor stall, the chance to learn more about the dangers of roads to amphibians through our Virtual Reality Experience and tips on gardening for wildlife through our Wildlife Gardening Workshop.
Many thanks to all who voted for Froglife’s Renfrewshire Living Water project at participating Tesco stores, helping us raise funds with Tesco Bags of Help! Voting for the project took place in March & April 2019 helping us fund our work to create ponds for wildlife and offer free nature events for local people. See more at www.tesco.com/bagsofhelp
