Having recently been appointed as a Habitat Delivery Body by Natural England, Froglife Ecological Services (F.E.S) has been busy creating and restoring ponds across the county of Essex as part of the District Level Licencing scheme.
District level licensing aims to increase the number of great crested newts by providing new or better habitats in targeted areas to benefit their wider population. F.E.S has successfully created and restored 36 ponds for great crested newts over the last few months in strategically chosen locations to enable populations to flourish and will be returning to these ponds to check their progress over the coming years.
If you are a landowner in Essex and are interested in finding out about the scheme and the potential for the creation and/or the restoration of ponds then please contact James McAdie via email here.
