Inspired by Nature is a themed Croak to entertain you with some of our favourite artwork based on nature and the outdoors. We hope it will stimulate you to get creative and produce something yourself. If you do and would like to share them with us, please post them on our Facebook page, Twitter account, or email us at info@froglife.org
This months feature has been written by Vanessa Barber our London Dragon Finder Project Manager.
Amphibians are an amazingly varied and fascinating animal group. There are over 7000 different species of amphibian, of which nearly 90% are frogs. Tropical frogs in particular exhibit some of the most vibrant and beautiful skin patterns found in nature. And make a great topic for artists and photographers alike.
Unfortunately, in recent decades there has been a dramatic decline in amphibian
populations for many species around the globe. Several causes are believed to be involved, including disease, habitat destruction and modification, exploitation, and pollution amongst others.
This April Froglife will once again be joining individual and other organisations around the world for ‘Save the Frogs day 2015’ to raise awareness of amphibian decline and to celebrate the amazing amphibian’s species we share our planet with. Keep an eye on our Dragon Finder events page for more information. I drew these illustrations to feature on our Save the Frogs Day colouring in sheets and really enjoyed focusing on the extraordinary shapes and patterns of these amazing exotic species.
We would love to receive photos or drawings of the amphibian species that inspire you. Tweet them @froglifers, share them on Facebook or email them to info@froglife.org
