Animals seen
We want to make it easy for Patrollers to submit their own daily reports. This requires the Patrol Manager to make some choices because the animals seen are not the same at all Sites. The Manager can select the animals for which reports can be submitted. For example, if great crested newts are never seen, then they can be removed and patrollers will not be asked for a number.
Palmate newts are seen at some sites but can be difficult for patrollers to identify them from Smooth Newts in the dark! As patrollers will be picking them up the easiest way to ID them is to turn them over and look at their throats. Palmate newts have unspotted pink or yellow throat (unlike Smooth Newts, which have spotted throats). If you can’t do this you can change the settings in animals seen and simply record them as Unidentified Small Newts.
Once the Site has been configured, there will probably be no need to ever change it.
