Allotments and gardens can be havens for wildlife, particularly within London. They help to link up habitats and act as a ‘historical safe-house’ for amphibians and reptiles in urban areas. Froglife has been working with growers and gardeners across the city, teaching people the benefits to improving their gardens and plots for wildlife. In ‘Wildlife Workshops’ Froglife show allotment holders how to enhance the wildlife value of their plot by making simple but effective changes to its design and management. The sessions included an introduction to wildlife friendly gardening; basic amphibian and reptile ID; group tasks to get you thinking about practical steps forward; discussion and site walk a chance to get our advice; and free resources to get you started. We’ve been all over London with our workshops. Click the links to find out about some of our visits.
