Inspired by Nature is a themed Croak to entertain you with some of our favourite artwork based on nature and the outdoors. We hope it will stimulate you to get creative and produce something yourself. If you do and would like to share them with us, please post them on our Facebook page, Twitter account, or email us at info@froglife.org
This months feature has been written by Rebecca Neal our Conservation Youth Worker on the Peterborough Green Pathways project, funded by BBC Children in Need.
In my creative writing class we often learn about different forms of poetry. These are like work-outs for writers, where the poem has fixed rules. A triolet is a poem with eight lines and a rhyme scheme of AbaAabAB. This means the first, fourth and seventh line are the same and they rhyme with the third and fifth line and that the second and last line are the same and that they rhyme with the sixth. It sounds complicated but here is my example written using inspiration from a photo we were shown in class. I wanted to show that being in nature helps people with longer lasting mental health issues but also someone who has had a rubbish day. This is why projects such as Green Pathways work so well. We would love to read your poetry inspired by nature, please email info@froglife.org, find us on Facebook or tweet us @froglifers.
When you touch nature, nature touches you
At a primal level, we need it
To help us see a better view
When you touch nature, nature touches you
Green replaces blue
When we absorb its spirit
When you touch nature, nature touches you
At a primal level, we need it.
