The Helix was born from an idea in 2003 to build an ecopark as part of the Falkirk Greenscape Initiative, transforming 350 hectares of land between Falkirk and Grangemouth. Today, The Helix (managed by Falkirk Community Trust) connects 16 local communities through our extensive path networks stretching over 27km.
The four new ponds, which were created in November 2020, will provide good breeding habitat, and the surrounding vegetation will provide great cover for foraging amphibians and protection from predators. These waterbodies also connect with the existing wet habitats at The Helix and allow amphibians to expand their range within the site.
