Fife Living Waters delivered a total of 100 volunteer training sessions with 1030 volunteers across our two sites, Cowdenbeath Wetland and Swans Pond. At these sessions volunteers learnt about the amphibians and reptiles of Scotland, including how to identify them, key threats they face, and what we can do to help them.
There were a range of activities on offer at our volunteer sessions. There were plenty of opportunities to get stuck into practical habitat activities including pond creation and restoration, scrub clearance, seeding wildflowers, building hibernacula, and much more. During the school holidays we delivered a number of outdoor education activities such as pond dipping, nature walks and bushcraft skills. We also ran free training courses for our volunteers, including Surveying for Amphibians, Surveying for Reptiles, and Habitat Management.
