Funder: The National Lottery Heritage Fund
Balloch Country Park is situated on the southeast shore of Loch Lomond. It is the only Country Park and the only registered historic designed landscape within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The site is 200 acres in size and alongside the castle, which is currently under restoration, it consists of a variety of habitats including areas of semi-natural and ornamental woodland, open parkland, formal gardens, meadow and shoreline. The park is open to the public for recreational use and includes nature trails, guided walks and play parks.
We have now completed our restoration project to improve an existing pond at the country park to increase open water for amphibians and educational activities, whilst also creating a new pond within the woodland for wildlife! There will be plenty of future volunteer sessions to further improve this site for wildlife.
