North of the River Forth in Clackmannanshire, Gartmorn Dam is located in a 370 acre Country Park and Nature Reserve and is home to Scotland’s oldest reservoir. The park is part owned by Clackmannanshire Council, part owned by Scottish Water with the Gartmorn Dam Development Trust also involved . It is well used by walkers, cyclists, dog walkers, schools and others. It has active Rangers working and managing the site alongside several other sites in the area.
Works are planned for autumn 2021 to restore an existing pond in the park. The pond will be cleared of overgrown vegetation and de-silted to create more open water. The pond and surrounding area will be cleared of litter, and a dipping platform and interpretation board will be installed for the benefit of nearby schools and the local community. We will also create nearby hibernacula to provide overwintering habitat for reptiles and amphibians.
