Kinneil Local Nature Reserve is a former colliery and became a local nature reserve in 2013. The site stretches from Bo’ness harbour in the east to the site of the former Kinneil Colliery and Snab Lane in the west.
Froglife created a new pond for amphibians and other species of wildlife which will hold water year round for amphibian breeding.
The existing pond was also restored – an invasive non-native species will be safely removed soon and encroaching scrub has been managed which over shadowed the pond. The edges of the pond were enhanced with native marginal species.
