Funders: National Lottery Heritage Fund and Clackmannanshire and Stirling Environment Trust
Menstrie Community Woodland in Clackmannanshire is owned by Menstrie Community Council. The 11.1 hectare of woodland has significant conservation value but is lacking in freshwater habitats. Froglife have now completed 3 new ponds within the woodland to offer essential breeding habitat for amphibians and a range of wildlife. One of the ponds includes a platform for educational purposes so all can see what will live beneath the surface of the pond.
An interpretation board is now in place with information on why the ponds were created and what species may colonise the ponds as they establish.
