Muiravonside Country Park is a fantastic site for amphibians. Froglife previously worked at the park to restore the existing pond, create ponds, hibernacula and hedgerows at the park for the benefit of biodiversity. In 2019 Froglife have created more ponds to enhance the amphibian population on site – creating a larger network of ponds throughout Falkirk’s largest country park.
Two new ponds have now been created providing further freshwater habitats on site and extending the connectivity of ponds at the park – a feature that is vital for a robust amphibian population. A pond dipping platform was also installed in November 2019 – so local groups can see the pond up close safely and learn more about the creatures that will call it home.
