Building works in Raploch, Stirling have required several Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) ponds to be created in the past. This project focuses on three which have been installed along a section of the A84. While these ponds do not form part of a recreational site they are accessible to the public and, with management to keep them in good order, can provide an attractive feature as well as improving their suitability for amphibians and other wildlife.
In November 2020 the three SUDS ponds were restored by creating areas of open water within the densely overgrown wetland features dominated by reeds and bulrushes. These areas of open water will be maintained in the future by regular volunteer sessions with the Come Forth for Wildlife project.
