In June 2019 the London T.O.A.D team visited 2 YR5 classes at St Mary & St Michael Primary School, Tower Hamlets. The teachers at the school were very engaged and already had the children learning their lines prior to our first session! The children asked a lot of thoughtful and inquiring questions about amphibians and reptiles and very keen. They made beautiful toad masks using watercolour paints which really showed how well the children had understood the texture of the toad’s skin. Masks had also been made for the other characters and full-size herons had been painted and stuck to sticks for Wide Eye (and his friend Big Beak – yes, they made another character up!) to hold up. Both plays were fantastic, everybody remembered their lines and acted really well, and the audience were really engaged.
