The London T.O.A.D project focused on large-scale habitat work on major wildlife sites within London. With the help of volunteers and other groups we created green corridors around London to allow our amphibian species safe movement between natural spaces – which is imperative for common toads. Research undertaken by the University of Zurich analysing Froglife’s 30+ year toad database has concluded that toads have suffered a population decline of around 68%, mostly due to habitat fragmentation and road fatalities. Legacy is also an important aspect of Froglife’s work, so we upskilled all those involved in the project with species identification and habitat management.
