In October 2019 the London T.O.A.D team and a group of enthusiastic volunteers spent 4 days at New Scientist Live (an annual science and technology convention). Froglife’s stand was busy throughout the event and in total 1582 people visited to learn about toads and the project! Day 1 was characterised by a lot of school groups of varying ages (picture; below left), and days 2-4 were for the general public. As well as giving the usual messages about the toad’s plight, their ecology and the benefits of wildlife tunnels, people were also told about the upcoming campaign to petition councils across London to do something for common toads in their borough. Watch this space for more on that!
