What we do

European Toads on Roads

In March 2012 Froglife organised and hosted in Peterborough an international workshop on Amphibian mortality on roads which was attended by representatives of 12 European countries including Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Romania, Spain, Portugal, Lithuania, France, Switzerland and the UK.

Following the meeting it was decided that to better promote the exchange of scientific information on the topic of road impacts on amphibians and reptiles that a European network should be created. This informal network, called ENPARTS (European Network for Protection of Amphibians and Reptiles from Transport Systems) has since then grown to encompass representatives from 5 other countries, has organised several scientific symposiums at international conferences and has promoted strengthened cooperation and learning in Europe on this topic.

The mission of ENPARTS is “to cooperate to carry out all possible measures to inform and to promote best practice in amphibian and reptile road ecology and conservation and to stimulate ways to minimise the negative impacts of transport systems on herpetofauna and their habitats in Europe.”
