Book Review: Daisy and Jack’s Perfect Pond

January 31, 2023 by Ashlea Mawby

Daisy and Jack’s Perfect Pond is a charming story of a brother and sister who love to play outside in their courtyard garden! One day, Daisy finds a frog and decides to build it a home with the help of her Papa, Daddy, and brother Jack.

Throughout the book, there are some brilliant transferrable tips on wildlife gardening, not just for frogs, but for other creatures too. The process of building a pond is carefully explained in an easy-to-understand way and the beautiful illustrations help to bring the message home.

The information provided in the last few pages about the differences between frogs and toads is fantastic as it is surprising how many people do not know the difference!

It’s also refreshing to see diversity in the characters of the book, helping young readers to feel included and represented.

If you want to get your very own copy of Daisy and Jack’s Perfect Pond, you can pre-order it here.
