Inspired by Nature is a new themed Croak to entertain you with some of my own and my favourite famous poems written about nature and the outdoors. I hope it will stimulate you to get creative with words and write something yourself. If you do and would like to share them with us, please post them on our Facebook page.

Today is National Poetry Day and to celebrate, I have written a poem using their suggested theme of “Remember”. I hope it gets you thinking about your own outdoor memories and stimulates you to enable a child you know to earn their own. If we don’t experience, then we don’t care and if we don’t care, we don’t act.

Remember
Remember when we roamed
Remember when we kept tadpoles
Remember when we caught newts
Remember fishing for sticklebacks
Remember when we climbed that tree
Remember those picnics in the park
Remember when we built that den
Remember when we kept those caterpillars
Remember crab hunting
Remember blackberry picking
Remember gathering stuff for the nature table
Remember conker championships
Remember when we got really muddy
Remember when we found that fossil
Remember collecting stones from the beach
Remember that day we got lost in the countryside
Remember mud pies
Remember when hedgehogs were round
Remember when the cuckoos sang
Remember when there were toads
Remember to allow children to experience the outdoors
